Chefs to open cooks' centre for scotland

The Scottish Chefs Association (SCA) has signed a £150,000 sponsorship deal with Drambuie to open a national cookery centre in Glasgow.

The centre, which should be up and running by December, will be operated from the six-bedroom Deauvilles hotel which the SCA has purchased.

The school will provide cookery courses and demonstrations for chefs and the public and will promote Scottish food.

The project has the backing of 12 of Scotland's top chefs, who are all on the SCA board, including Ronnie Clydesdale, Nick Nairn, Ferrier Richardson and Andrew Radford.

The national cookery centre will be run by Brian Hannon, director of the SCA, as well as a culinary director, not yet announced.
