Chefs to re-open the Marksman pub in east London

Two chefs have taken over the Marksman pub on Hackney Road in east London, with plans to re-launch it in May this year.

Tom Harris and Jon Rotheram both previously worked at St John restaurant and aim to put the focus on British food and drinks at the pub, with a menu inspired by the history of London and its culinary diversity.

The dining room at the venue will have 30 covers when it is open, and the pub lounge will have a flexible capacity.

Typical dishes will include cooked hams, salt beef and pickled fish as well as mutton curry and house chutney. There will also be an all day Saturday brunch menu, Sunday roasts and suckling pig and ‘beer mustard' in soft English milk buns.

The wine list will focus on old world wines, while a tasting room downstairs will place an emphasis on feasting and wine served by the magnum will be available for group bookings and private hire.
