London City bar operator and wine merchant Balls Brothers has appointed Chris Sullivan as its new chief executive. Sullivan joins Balls Brothers from fish and chips brand Harry Ramsden's where he was managing director. He will succeed family member Richard Balls, who will become chairman.

Sullivan has previously worked with large corporations such as Whitbread, Scottish and Newcastle, Starbucks and SSP. He also has experience with private companies such as the Noble Organisation and with serial entrepreneur Trevor Hemmings, helping to operate businesses including Aberdeen Angus Steakhouses, Brighton Pier, Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens, Louis Tussaud's Waxworks, Six Piers, Crown Leisure and Pontin's Holidays.

Commenting on Sullivan's appointment, Richard Balls said: "I am very pleased to announce that Chris Sullivan will be joining us as chief executive of the company. Chris has had wide-ranging experience in the industry, in both large corporations and family owned businesses.

"As a long-established family-owned business, Balls Brothers will benefit from Chris's expertise, and the appointment will ensure strong management succession in today's competitive marketplace."
