City Inn shows suite tooth in Westminster

City Inn will break with its budget hotel blueprint by including 18 suites in its 461-bedroom hotel due to open in Westminster early in 2004.

Chairman Sandy Orr said: "We believe some of our customers will want to use the facilities of suites. We are not rigid. We made an exception because it's a world-class site - 70 bedrooms overlook the Thames."

Orr said that the top-floor suites also have views of Big Ben and will cost £200 a night, double the cost of the bedrooms. Construction of the 13-floor new-build began last month.

City Inn, a joint venture between Sandy and David Orr and the Bank of Scotland, employs 300 staff and has hotels in Bristol, Glasgow and Birmingham.
