Clearing house concept

Wotif.com, an internet sales channel for hotels which was launched in Australia in March 2000 and now has over 400 hotels there, has introduced its "clearing house" concept to the UK.

Hotels which use the site to market unsold rooms have total control over all inventory they load on the Wotif reservation system and can add or remove it as frequently as they like and decrease or increase prices accordingly.

The site also provides hotels with yield management capabilities to help hotels sell every available room at optimum price. Hoteliers create and maintain their own space on the site and can post room availability on line at any time. There is no requirement, as on other hotel booking sites, to commit blocks of rooms to a series of dates at a fixed price. Wotif takes a 10% commission on rooms in order to fund the service.
