Coaching Inn Group acquires Golden Lion in Cambridgeshire for £2m

The Coaching Inn Group has acquired the Golden Lion in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, for more than £2m as the firm continues with its £20m expansion programme.

In the past 12 months the company has acquired five properties and plans to add a further four sites by the end of the year.

The Golden Lion is housed in an 18th century property and offers 25 bedrooms.

Kevin Charity, founder and managing director of the Coaching Inn Group, said: "The Golden Lion is a great example of the kind of property we want; great market town locations and businesses that will draw in locals and visitors from further afield alike. Victoria and the team have obviously done a fantastic job over the past decade and we look forward to continuing to work with them to build on the business's fantastic reputation."

The Coaching Inn Group achieved a 60% rise in profits to £1.3m and 29% increase in sales to £13m, in its latest financial results.

The group operates 11 hotels across Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Cambridgeshire and Wales.
