Compass Group's Neil Smith to take top finance role at Enterprise Inns

Compass Group's finance director is to leave the caterer to join pub company Enterprise Inns.

Neil Smith will join Enterprise on 3 January 2011, undertaking a handover period with incumbent David George before assuming the role of chief financial officer on 20 January.

George is retiring after nearly 20 years in the role at the pub company. He joined Enterprise at its formation in 1991.

Smith, who joined Compass in 2007, is a qualified chartered accountant and has also held senior finance positions with NTL, Telewest and Somerfield.

Hubert Reid, chairman of Enterprise, said: "I am delighted that Neil has agreed to join Enterprise. We are pleased to have been able to attract an individual of Neil's calibre to the board and his many years of finance experience within consumer-facing businesses will prove invaluable to the company."
