Scolarest lands Cornish school deal

Scolarest has started its first school-catering contract in Cornwall at Camborne School and Community College. The five-year deal is worth a total of £920,000. Scolarest began this term, serving 1,400 meals a day to pupils and staff. Two new dining areas have been created - Planets Café serves baguettes, jacket potatoes, salads and pizzas and a bistro serves staff and sixth-formers toasted sandwiches and soup.

Scolarest has extended its contract with Scottish boarding school Glenalmond College for a further four years. The extension is worth £2.5m in turnover and covers the serving of breakfast, lunch and dinner to pupils and staff seven days a week, and hospitality for summer sports and open days.

Sodexho back to college in new deal

Sodexho has won a new multi-service contract at Shoreditch Community College, London, with an estimated annual turnover of £1.8m. Sodexho has run the catering at the college for the past seven years, but the new deal now includes grounds maintenance, security, waste management, reception services and cleaning. The new contract is for three years, with the option to extend for a further two.

Meanwhile, Sodexho has begun a four-year contract at Thorpe Bay School, a co-educational foundation school for 700 pupils aged 11-16 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The contract, previously run in-house, is worth an estimated £110,000 a year.

Caper Green wins Royal Parks contract

Caper Green has won the catering rights for Greenwich Royal Park. Under the deal, the London-based caterer will run all the catering outlets in the park on a seven-year lease as a concession, paying a percentage of turnover to Royal Parks while investing £350,000 in the new sites. The first outlet to reopen in February will be the Pavilion Tea House (pictured above). Caper Green manages food outlets in Hyde Park and Regent's Park.

Azure opens office in Manchester

Glasgow-based corporate hospitality and leisure catering company Azure has opened a new office in Manchester. Managing director Caroline Black said: "We'd reached the stage in our development where it was deemed necessary to have a permanent office in Manchester which will service our growing client base in England." Azure is set to turn over £15m this year.

Eurest feeds staff at distribution centre

Eurest has won the catering contract at the new Somerfield and Kwik Save distribution centre in St Helen's, Merseyside. The company will provide food round the clock to accommodate the shifts of the 850 staff at the centre. The one-year rolling contract is worth £500,000 in annual sales. In all, 15 Eurest staff will provide a deli bar, sandwich bar and cook-to-order counter.
