Cougar Leisure to sell off pubs after entering administration
Cougar Leisure has entered administration and is to sell off its remaining six pubs and bars spread across the North of England.
The package includes a mixture of freeholds and leaseholds and features the Brannigans branded bars in Blackpool and Manchester, its Mood branded units in Newcastle, the Spirit and View sites in Manchester and the Boardwalk in Sheffield.
The sites are available individually or as a group and are being sold by property agents Christie & Co.
In June last year, Cougar Leisure put 11 pubs and bars on the market, also via Christie & Co. It subsequently sold the freehold of the Townhouse pub in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, to Wear Inns, the North-east of England-based pub operator; the Berkley in Wigan to Amber Taverns; plus sites in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Romford to individual operators.
Simon Chaplin, director at Christie & Co, said: "These sites generated significant interest from a range of parties when they initially came on to the market. We currently have deals agreed on two of the six and expect renewed interest in the remaining sites in administration. These centrally-located sites will appeal to both national and established local operators alike."
Nigel Atkinson and Mark Fry, Begbies Traynor, were appointed joint administrators on 10 January 2011.
