Court drops cheat charge against hotel night porter

A NIGHT porter accused of cheating the St James Court hotel in London while entrusted to do some audit work has had charges against him dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Regina Naughton, for the prosecution, told a London court last week that the case against Roger Stefan-Evans had been discontinued.

At an earlier hearing the court had been told that the hotel was reluctant to continue with the case because Stefan-Evans had repaid £7,800 which it was alleged he had misappropriated.

Stefan-Evans, 29, of Sturland Avenue, East Barnet, had faced three charges of obtaining money by deception.
