Credit card criminal convicted

A receptionist stole £11,600 from the Bishop's Court Hotel in Torquay, by using a credit card payment till to make "refunds" to her own bank account.

Joanne Kersey, 22, of Torquay, also made payments from the till to the accounts of her partner and her father, Exeter Crown Court heard.

Kersey admitted four charges of theft and asked for three others to be considered. She was put on probation for two years, told to carry out 60 hours' community service, and ordered to pay £8,500 in compensation, money still in her account when the offences were discovered.
