Draco Pub Company acquires fourth site

Somerset-based Draco Pub Company has acquired the Kings Arms hotel in Dorchester, Dorset.

The new site brings Draco's total number of venues to four.

Since 2011, the business has acquired three coaching inns and turned them into award-winning pubs - the Swan and the Whit Hart in Somerset, and most recently Timbrell's Yard in Bradford-on-Avon, which opened in March this year after a £1.5m refurbishment.

The latest acquisition, the Kings Arms hotel, went into receivership in January of this year and was bought several months later by Draco.

Rob Greacen, managing director of the Draco Group, said: "We are honoured to be the new custodians of the Kings Arms hotel. It is a very special place, an iconic and much-loved local landmark, and we're delighted at the prospect of refurbishing such a historical gem to the first-rate standard that it deserves."

The company hopes to re-open the Kings Arms as a hotel in late 2016 or early 2017.

The pubs' kitchens are overseen by executive chef Tom Blake, formerly head chef at River Cottage, who uses a network of West Country farmers and suppliers.
