Entries sought for Nestlé Toque d'Or 2010
Entries for the Nestlé Toque d'Or 2010 competition are now being sought from UK catering colleges.
Teams who win a place in next year's Toque d'Or grand final will have the benefit of being mentored by Michelin-starred chefs for the remainder of the competition, which is now in its 21st year.
Once paper judging of these entries is complete, the top 16 colleges will be invited to take part in heats to be held at their own college's restaurant/kitchen during March 2010.
Five teams will win a place at the grand final at the Birmingham NEC in June, where they will bring their restaurant concepts to life and serve 100 paying diners, with the support of Michelin-starred chefs.
Nestlé Professional has also announced that next year's finalists will have the opportunity to take the new City and Guilds Nestlé Toque d'Or qualification.
David Field, managing director for Nestlé Professional, said: "New recruits are the lifeblood of any industry and we believe that it's vital that we support and encourage the next generation talent - and look to equip them with the right skills for their future careers.
"We know that over 75% of catering students start their careers working within the contract catering sector and it's a very valid part of the market that we feel should be represented within Nestle Nestlé Toque d'Or, which gives an unrivalled insight into working life."
