Expresso nets football win

Expresso Hospitality, a new Scottish caterer set up by two ex-operation managers from Azure, has announced its first contract win - with Motherwell Football Club.

With start-up costs of £15,000 for equipment, Craig Stewart and Isobel Currie set up Expresso and won the Motherwell FC contract from their previous employers this summer.

The two-year deal, worth about £200,000 a year, kicked off this summer and includes feeding the footballers. Chef Brian Frew serves more than 70 players a special high-carbohydrate diet every day.

On match days, Expresso caters for up to 800 fans at the Fir Park stadium's executive boxes. It also manages the conference and banqueting business for up to 400 guests a day.

Stewart said Expresso planned to specialise in catering at football and racecourse venues. It also wanted to open a high street café-bar in the Motherwell area.
