Feathers: Cenay home to roost
The historic Feathers Hotel in Ludlow, Shropshire, has been sold for close to £1.75m. The three-star, 40-bedroom hotel, which is reputed to have the oldest timber faÁ§ade in the country, has sold to Sam Cenay, a private buyer. The hotel, rebuilt in 1619, is a Grade I Listed building. Four of the 40 bedrooms in the hotel feature four-poster beds. It also features a Café-bar, three lounges and three conference rooms. The Feathers Hotel was one of seven hotels belonging to Corus and Regal Hotels put up for sale last October. Of the hotels put up for sale, the 76-bedroom Carlton Park Hotel in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been sold and contracts have been exchanged on the 45-bedroom Star Hotel in Worcester, Worcestershire, and 58-bedroom Homestead Court Hotel in Welwyn, Hertfordshire. The remaining three hotels, the 28-bedroom Roebuck Hotel in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, 24-bedroom Sarcecen's Head Hotel in Great Dunmow, Essex, and the five-bedroom Royal Oak in Yattendon, Berkshire, are all currently under offer. Corus and Regal is part of the Regal Hotel group, which was bought last year by London Vista, a subsidiary of Malayan United Industries, for £88.5m. It operates more than 90 hotels throughout Britain.
