Food trends essay secures prize

The winner of this year's University of Surrey Food and Wine Society President's Prize is Lizzie Mountford, a fourth-year hotel and catering undergraduate based at Guildford, Surrey. She is pictured receiving her award from president Kit Chapman, of Taunton's Castle hotel, and Caterer editor Forbes Mutch at the society's annual lecture. Her essay, "Does food follow fashion?", discussed the influence of celebrity chefs on the UK's food trends and won her a prize that includes a cheque for £250 and a weekend for two at the Castle.
