Four arrested after fire at hotel site

Four men from south Manchester have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a hotel construction site in Didsbury, to the south of the city, last Friday (5 January).

The hotel, being developed by Thornfield Developments, is on the site of the former Parrswood High School, Stockport. The fire caused part of the premises to collapse and left the rest smoke-damaged. It could cost up to £2m to put right.

Police and fire officers are investigating the cause of the fire but the incident is being treated as suspicious. The hotel development was nearing completion.
