Four Seasons tops US survey
Four Seasons has nabbed seven of the top eleven hotel rankings in the new Zagat Surevy of top US hotels, reosrts and spas. The number one spot went to the Four Seasons New York and the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort in Hawaii also came in as top US resort.
The surevy, of 1,650 hotels, 184 spas and 73 hotel chains, also found a marked increase in room rates. The average rate for a double room was $221 (£155), up more than 20% since the previous survey in 1998,. New York was the most expensive at $261 (£182) but still significantly lower than the average London rate of £228 ($326). Las Vegas the cheapest at $147 (£103).
New York was names "Best US City" with 33% of the votes, ahead of 1998 winner San Francisco with 30%. New Orleans, Chicago, Washington and Las Vegas all had 5% or below.
