Frankie & Benny's opens 100th UK restaurant

Italian-American chain Frankie & Benny's has opened its 100th restaurant in Scotland.

A special reception attended by 200 guests and Miss Scotland, Louis Weatherup, was held last Friday (15 April) to mark the occasion.

The chain, owned by the Restaurant Group, was started by the Guillani family in New York in 1924. Traditional dishes such as spaghetti, meatballs and pizza remain part of the menu today.

In 2004 Frankie & Benny's was named food service operator of the year by the Food Development Association.

The company plans to open another 15 restaurants in the UK next year.
