Fuller, Smith & Turner opens theatre in Birmingham pub

Fuller, Smith and Turner has opened an 80-seat theatre on the second floor of a Birmingham boozer.

The Old Stock Joint pub in Temple Row West has full dressing and green room facilities, a box office, cloakroom and lounge area for interval drinks.

Pub manager Alison Turner who came up with the idea said: "We used to run some plays in our function room, and I could see there was potential to expand the concept."

Fuller's has spent £350,000 creating the theatre and hired a full-time theatre manager, Ian Craddock, to organise comedy nights, plays and cabaret at the new site.

High-street pub operator JD Wetherspoon recently bolted a coffee shop onto the front of its Forest Hill pub in South-east London to satisfy workers' early morning coffee cravings.
