Gerry Calabrese buys Shoreditch bar

Gerry Calabrese, the son of cocktail maestro Salvatore Calabrese, has acquired the Pool Bar, a late night venue in Shoreditch, London.

Calabrese will now spend £1m on revamping the venue having bought the Pool for a £522,000 premium and a rent of £60,000.

Davis Coffer Lyons sold the Pool on behalf of owner Raj Niyak of NPG Entertainments.

Jonathan Moradoff, negotiator at the property agents, said: "We've noticed recently that there's been a lot of activity in Shoreditch and Hoxton, with a large increase in demand from top operators to be in the area."
