Greene King boosts training for BDMs
Greene King has boosted the level of training it provides to its business development managers (BDMs) after licensees told the pub company they wanted them to be better trained.
The company said its Pub Partners arm had just completed the first phase of its Code of Practice training for all of its BDMs.
A survey of 574 leased and tenanted licensees showed that 90% wanted to see a guaranteed level of training for their BDMs in order for them to be able to deliver training support.
Managing director for Greene King Pub Partners, Simon Longbottom, said: "Ninety per cent of our licensees said they wanted to see a guaranteed level of training for their business development managers to be able to deliver support successfully. Delivering our Code of Practice isn't a box-ticking exercise; it's about embedding it into the DNA of our business. Training for business development managers is an essential part of that."
The first four days of training, which took place last month, focused on the delivery of the new Code of Practice and formally introduced new initiatives and ways of working, including an enhanced online rent assessment model and a BDM's handbook.
Greene King launched its new Code of Practice to licensees at the end of September. It will go fully live from October 16th. Along with training, business development managers have also been equipped with an extensive range of tools including new IT systems, a handbook and guides to help them to support their licensees.
