Guide keeps track of Europe

A GUIDE designed to help caterers cope with new European legislation has been launched by the European Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association (EFEDA).

"Standards and Approvals for Foodservice Equipment in Europe" provides details of the state of play in the single market. European directives and legal advice are included, along with guidance on how to obtain the CE mark for catering equipment.

Speaking during a meeting of EFEDA at the World of Hospitality, Herwig Niggemann, the meeting's chairman, described the guide as "a forum for ideas and know-how".

As complete harmonisation of European Union (EU) law is far from reality, updates of the guide are planned in the future.
