Hospitality Action raises £32,000 at inaugural Patrons Dinner
Hospitality Action raised more than £32,000 as it gave supporters a preview of its new campaign at its inaugural Patrons Dinner.
Industry leaders and supporters of Hospitality Action enjoyed a dinner prepared by seven of Britain's leading chefs at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, with dishes from Tom Kerridge, Michel Roux Snr, Gary Usher, Paul Heathcote, Ashley Palmer-Watts, Nigel Haworth and Hospitality Action's principal patron, Jason Atherton.
The chefs all contributed to two four-course menus that were served to diners depending on where they were sitting.
All guests received Ashley Palmer-Watt's signature starter of meat fruit, before being served dishes that included Looe day boat turbot with wild garlic, cockle velouté and cauliflower with yoghurt purée by Jason Atherton and a teardrop of milk chocolate mousse with a caramel and mango filling served with mango sorbet from Michel Roux Snr.
Hospitality Action chief executive Mark Lewis provided a preview of the charity's new campaign, which aims to celebrate the nurturing and supportive nature of the organisation's activities, including moving new films with first hand accounts of how Hospitality Action supports people in the industry.
Principal patron, Jason Atherton said: "It was such an honour to cook at last night's Patron's Dinner, and to hear real life stories from fellow hospitality workers was extremely moving. A huge thank you to everyone that attended and to the Mandarin Oriental team for hosting the event. The money raised last night will allow Hospitality Action to continue helping people who work or have worked in the industry and have fallen on hard times. I feel privileged to be a part of such a worthwhile charity."
