Hotel to open in Stanbrook Abbey

Stanbrook Abbey - formerly a home for Benedictine nuns in Worcestershire - is to reopen as a 52-bedroom hotel on Sunday.

Set within 21 acres of grounds, the property was sold to Clarenco, the parent company of Amazing Venues, in 2010 and was initially used as a location for events.

Now, following a multi-million pound, two-year renovation, which has involved expanding tiny nun cells into larger bedrooms and installing central heating and new plumbing, the property will welcome overnight guests.

Built in 1625, Stanbrook Abbey features four dining rooms and two banqueting halls, overseen by head chef Sean Byrne.

Mike Clare, founder and chairman of Amazing Venues, said: "We are very excited to now offer our guests overnight accommodation in the historic abbey building at Stanbrook Abbey. The opening of the luxury bedrooms marks an important point in the development of the property and gives more guests the chance to experience the magic and heritage of the venue."
