Hotelier loses bid to reduce compensation

A hotel boss who was found to have sexually harassed a young receptionist has lost his bid to have the amount of compensation reduced.

David Bennett, who runs the Foxbar hotel in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, was earlier ordered to pay Sandra Reid more than £12,000 after an employment tribunal ruled he had sexually harassed her. The money included £10,000 for injury to feelings, one of the highest such awards ever made in Scotland.

The tribunal rejected Bennett's bid to have the amount reduced, but he is now taking the case to the Employment Appeal Tribunal to challenge it again.
