I don't want to sound like a whinger in interviews

Question

I am looking for a new position in the hotel industry. I want to leave my present position because I don't receive any training or career development from the company and have little support from my manager. How do I phrase this in an interview when asked why I want to move? I don't want to sound like a complainer.

What the experts says

Julian Bradwell, human resources director, Greene King Pub Company

!
I wouldn't mention it at all or you will look like a complainer. Do a little research into your new potential employer and find out about the training and development plans that are on offer. Then, you can focus on this as being a great opportunity for your career development and say that this is why you want to make the move.
