Warner invests

Warner Holidays is putting £12m into building a 200-bedroom hotel in the grounds of Cricket St Thomas wildlife park in Somerset, which it has acquired for an undisclosed sum.

The company will also convert a 16-bedroomcountry house in the grounds into hotel accommodation.

Room with a view

Lancashire County Cricket Club is to build a 68-bedroom hotel overlooking the world-famous Old Trafford pitch.

The hotel, which will have a conference and banqueting centre, is due to open in April 1999.

Conran opening

Coq d'Argent, Terence Conran's first restaurant within the City of London's Square Mile, is to open on 17 August. The restaurant will seat 150 people with additional room for 75 at the bar.

Two for Teca

Marco Torri and William Lamberti, both former chefs from London's Halkin Hotel, are to run the kitchen of new Italian restaurant Teca, which opened in Mayfair last week. The restaurant is owned by Marco Bacchetta, a Swiss banker.

Roux success

Roux Fine Dining, part of the Compass Group, has won the catering contract for Brasserie 24, a 50-seater restaurant in the International Financial Centre in London.

Under the five-year contract Roux Fine Dining will pay basic rent, plus a concessionary payment based on number of occupants in the building.
