Meridien branding

Forte is rebranding its 450-bedroom Grosvenor House hotel as part of its 97-strong Méridien chain. The Grosvenor House, a Méridien hotel, will be the fourth in London, alongside the Waldorf, Piccadilly and Gatwick Méridiens.

Crew cuts

Maîtres d', sommeliers and front of house restaurant staff will be honoured in the first Premier Crew Awards, sponsored by Harpers & Queen and Moât & Chandon. The closing date for nominations is this Tuesday (14 July).

La tasca review

Spanish tapas bar La Tasca has won a judicial review in its £40,000 legal battle to get a full drinks licence for its Chester branch. It will now return to Chester Crown Court to get the rejection of its application reversed.

Prized hotels

The Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool was named Small Hotel of the Year at the annual United Utilities North West Tourism Industry Awards. During the ceremony at Liverpool Football Club, Etrop Grange at Manchester Airport won the Hotel of the Year title.

Mcdonald's award

Restaurant giant McDonald's, which employs more than 200 disabled people nationwide, has won the Remploy Leading the Way Award 1998 for the catering sector in recognition of its support and employment of people with disabilities.
