Zander in London
BGR, operator of Bank restaurant in London,is to run a new fish restaurant called Zander at St James's Court Hotel in Westminster. The stand-alone restaurant will have capacity of 180 covers plus a 90-seat private dining room and a bar area.
Heathrow hayes
Work has started on a £34m London Heathrow Marriott Hotel at Hayes, Middlesex. The 390-room hotel will have 13 meeting rooms, two restaurants and a leisure club. The Heathrow Marriott near Slough will be renamed when the new hotel opens next year.
Hospital refit
A former Victorian maternity hospital in Edinburgh has been redeveloped into a 58-bedroom hotel. Simpsons Hotel in Lauriston Place is owned by Charles Pearson and Gavin Cherry.
Gm at school
Gardner Merchant has won a contract at Strathallan School near Perth - one of Scotland's largest independent boarding schools. The company fought off competition from Eurest and Sutcliffe to land the contract, which lasts for three years with an estimated turnover of £500,000 per year.
Fenton's firehouse
Californian chef Richard Fenton has opened a second Firehouse Rotisserie restaurant, in Sevenoaks, Kent, in a joint venture with Pizza Piazza managing director Ivan Taylor. Fenton's first restaurant is in Bath.
Music system
Musician and disc jockey Layo Paskin has opened a bar, restaurant and mini-cinema, called aka, in London's West End - next door to his nightclub. The End.
