locatelli case fails

The attempted prosecution of London-based chef Giorgio Locatelli for common assault collapsed last week after a judge threw out the case. The Crown Prosecution Service had already dropped an earlier charge of criminal damage relating to an incident when it was alleged that Locatelli spat at a wall in the London restaurant Petrus, causing £1,300-worth of damage to the wallpaper (Caterer, 15 July, page 4).

new minotel chairman

Lewis Grant of the Brabloch Minotel near Glasgow airport, has become chairman of Minotel Great Britain, the consortium of two- and three-star hotels. He was previously vice-chairman. Grant replaces John Searancke. Minotel company secretary Carl Les has become vice-chairman of the consortium.

Select Service Partner, the travel catering specialist owned by Compass, has opened a new take-away sandwich shop called Tastte! (pictured above) on Euston railway station in London.
