Intertain rebrands Bar Risa in Leeds

Entertainment and bar operator Intertain has opened a new four-room venue in Leeds city centre, incorporating a bar, private-hire rooms and event space.

The result of a £500,000 redesign and rebrand of Bar Risa - the Intertain venue previously on the site - Maluko will be made up of a public bar and restaurant, a club and party space available for private hire, and two rooms designed to host regular comedy nights.

John Leslie, CEO of Intertain, said: "We're very excited about the opening of Maluko as it's the first time we have opened this style of venue. So far our refurbishment programme has shown great returns on investment and we're confident that Maluko will further this success."

Intertain was formed in 2009 by businessmen John Leslie, Simon Kaye and Mike Foster to buy out the venues of the now defunct Regent Inns and currently owns the Walkabout brand, as well as five Highlight comedy bars.
