JD Wetherspoon to open revamped Stansted Airport site

Managed pub giant JD Wetherspoon is to double to size of its site at Stansted Airport in Essex, when it re-opens at the end of this month.

Wetherspoon has spent £2.7m on the Windmill, which will replace the pub of the same name which has been at the airport since May 2003.

It will be Wetherspoon's biggest airport outlet and the only pub at Stansted Airport.

It will continue to be managed by Michael Wilkins, who has worked there since 2007, and employs 175 staff.

There is a large windmill at the heart of the 7,000 sq ft pub and bar, on each of the two levels, with the all-glass mezzanine level offering views of the runway.
