JD Wetherspoon to sell off 45 pubs
Pub company JD Wetherspoon is selling off another 45 pubs across the country and has appointed Savills and CBRE to handle the disposals.
The move is third significant sell-off in less than a year. Last June it sold 20 pubs through CBRE, followed by another 34 in November, then described as the biggest sell-off in the company's 36-year history.
A spokesman for Wetherspoon said: "Wetherspoon has more than 950 pubs across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Like other companies, it looks at its estate and has to make commercial decisions. The company has looked at its estate and taken the decision to put a number of pubs up for sale, which are spread across the UK. We are still opening new pubs and have many new sites in the pipeline and Wetherspoon will keep expanding with new pubs and hotels."
Some 23 of the 45 pubs are in London and the south. All are in town or city centre locations in England, Wales and Scotland. The agents said that 33 of the 45 properties are being brought to market for the first time.
