King & Co secures Dogtown and Slap & Pickle for latest residency

The King & Co pub in south London's Clapham Common has announced street-food hotdog specialists Dogtown London, and burger group Slap & Pickle as its latest kitchen residencies.

Set to launch on Monday 30 November for two months, "Dogtown London vs Slap & Pickle" will go head to head on the menu, including Dogtown's signature pork and beef hotdog, and Pickle's signature double cheeseburger.

There will also be "small things" such as beer-battered pickles and corndog "pups" with Sriracha mayo, plus sides such as beer-cheese fries and ‘nduja mac and cheese.

Meat will be sourced from the Rare Breed Meat Company, while all dishes will be available accompanied by a range of original sauces, relishes and pickles created by the brands themselves, such as sweet dill, coriander and pickled chilli, beer-cheese sauce, mango ketchup, and lime pickle.

Dessert options will include homemade gooey dark chocolate brownies with black pepper peanut butter, salted caramel, winter fruit sauce and vanilla pod ice cream. The pub will also offer bottomless Bloody Marys, cava, and cask ales to go alongside its weekend brunches.

Founded in 2011 by James Tabor, Dogtown London is a street-food operator-turned-pop-up resident, and was a finalist at the British Streetfood Awards. Slap & Pickle began in 2010, from self-taught chef Jones, who smokes the brand's bacon in his own home in London's Brixton.

The King & Co regularly welcomes pop-up residencies into its kitchens, with recent names including the Donostia Social Club, Rotli Crew, and Zoe's Ghana Kitchen.
