Larwood and Voce pub in Nottingham wins Best British Roast Dinner 2015
The Larwood and Voce pub and kitchen in Nottingham has won the title of Best British Roast Dinner 2015.
The pub's roast dinner impressed the panel of judges, which included food critic Charles Campion, thanks to its use of pork from its own rare breed pigs, homemade condiments and home-baked bread.
The other shortlisted pubs were Kyloe, Edinburgh; the Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd; the Duke of Wellington, East Horsley, Surrey; and the Crown Inn, Woolhope, Herefordshire.
The best roast dinner title was awarded to coincide with the end of the fourth annual British Roast Dinner week 2015, an event that seeks to promote the popularity of the roast dinner, encourage it to be served every day rather than only on Sundays, and show its ability to boost bookings and food revenue for pubs, canteens, hotels and restaurants.
The week is sponsored by Knorr gravy and supported by Colman's mustard, from Unilever Food Solutions.
Commenting on the winner, Chris Brown, channel category manager, Unilever Food Solutions, said: "Standards were exceptionally high across the board, and to choose between the five finalists was an extremely close call, but Larwood and Voce just had the edge over the rest."
Last year's winner was the Truscott Arms in Maida Vale, whose bookings reportedly increased by 50% thanks to the accolade.
