Latest series of The Hotel raises wrath of Torquay's hospitality industry

Torquay's hospitality industry is once again up in arms at the launch of the latest series of Channel 4's reality TV show, The Hotel, based in the town.

The latest series once again depicts Jenkins' haphazard method of operating, which Torquay's hospitality industry believes believes give the resort town a bad name.
Maureen McAllister of McAllister and Co, a tourism consultancy, posted on Twitter: "So many hard working, dedicated and professional businesses once again let down by #channel4 nonsense."

Simon Hultsone, chef-proprietor of The Elephant restaurant, also took to Twitter to express his frustration that Jenkins had once again been given a platform on prime-time television:

"How can someone who failed in 3 hotels next door to the Cavendish give advice!!" and "Whole show was a set up and scripted."

A Channel 4 spokesman told the Torquay Herald Express: "The series is a light-hearted look at events at one hotel in Torquay over five weeks of the summer season. The Cavendish Hotel owners are happy with the programme's representation of their hotel."

Jenkins is currently appearing in the pantomime Sleeping Beauty at Torquay's Princess Theatre.
