Local family buy only pub in Hampshire village

A local family experienced in the licensed trade have bought the Hatchett Inn, which is the only pub in the Hampshire village of Sherfield English.

The pub, which is a first-time purchase for Shaun and Sandra Finch and their daughter Hayley, sits on the A27 Romsey- to-Salisbury road in the Test Valley.

The business has built up a reputation for its cask ales and for its food (which accounts for 55% of turnover).

The building retains retains a number of character details such as exposed beams and open fireplaces. Three interlinked trading areas provide seating for 72 customers in the form of a locals' bar, a public bar and dining area, and a snug.

Other facilities include four-bedroom owners' accommodation, a trade beer garden with a children's play area, a car park and a barn.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co sold the remaining 15½ years of the Punch Taverns lease off a guide price of £110,000, with annual rent of £38,000. It acted on behalf of Paul and Mia Williamson.
