London & Edinburgh swoops for County Estate Management

London & Edinburgh Swallow Group has merged its tenanted pub division with County Estate Management, according to a report in The Publican.

The deal creates a new force in the tenanted pub market with an estate of more than 1,800 pubs.

It makes the combined company larger than Greene King's tenanted arm, Pub Partners, and on par with Wolverhampton & Dudley's Union Pub Company.

London & Edinburgh's swoop for County Estate Management comes against a continuing background of consolidation in the sector, which has seen Enterprise Inns and Punch Taverns come to dominate with around a quarter of the market.

Last month Greene King swooped for Nottingham's Hardys & Hansons in a £272m deal.

Swallow Hotels, part of the London & Edinburgh Swallow Group, has more than 150 hotels across the UK.
