London hotels see room yields grow by 6.3%

London hoteliers enjoyed a bumper February, with room yields up a healthy 6.3% to £77.60 year-on-year.

Consultants PKF said the growth was largely the result of a 1.5 percentage-point increase in average room occupancy from 73.3% to 74.4%.

Average room rates jumped 4.8% from £99.55 to £104.28.

Outside of London, room yields increased at the slower rate of 4.4% from £42.45 to £44.30 over the same period.

This was down to a 0.2 percentage-point rise in occupancy to 68.9% and a 4.1% rise in average room rates to £64.30.

A full annual review of the UK hotel market, Hotel Britain, will be published on April 12.
