‘Long Way to Tipperary' pub for sale

The pub that inspired the words to the famous First World War marching song It's a Long Way to Tipperary has been put up for sale.

The Tipperary Inn in Honiley, near Kenilworth, Warwickshire, was where Harry Williams and Jack Judge penned the song.

Williams' parents were publicans on the site of what was then the Plough Inn.

Williams bought the pub for them with the royalties he received from the song and they changed the pub's name to the Tipperary Inn.

The pub is now up for sale for £85,000 through the Nottingham office of property agent Davey Co.

It has a lounge bar and restaurant, which seats 80 guests, and receives regular visits from tourists, including many from Tipperary itself.

The pub has private accommodation on the first floor, including five rooms plus a kitchen and bathroom, which could be adapted to provide five letting bedrooms.

The pub is run by Mike Malhan, who is relocating to another pub for family reasons.
