Luton Hoo for sale again
Elite Hotels has announced that it is to sell Luton Hoo, the grade I-listed building it bought almost three years ago. Elite hotels had planned to turn the Bedfordshire mansion into a 115-bedroom country house hotel. But Graeme Bateman, managing director of Elite, said the company now wanted to sell the property and focus its energies on its other hotels. Sussex-based Elite, which is understood to have paid £10m for the property back in January 1999, is now asking for more than £16m for the estate, through agent Knight Frank. Elite Hotels also owns the 110-bedroom Tylney Hall in Hook, Hampshire, the 107-bedroom Ashdown Park hotel in Wynch Cross, East Sussex, and the 152-bedroom Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
