Manageress jailed for Burger King robbery plan

A Burger King manageress was jailed for six years last week for setting up an armed robbery at the company's restaurant in Colliers Wood, London, where she worked.

Blackfriars Crown Court was told that Julia Olomu, 30, had deliberately "lost" the key to the safe, which contained five days' takings, totalling £18,000.

She then tipped off her boyfriend, Muhammad Hakeem, and two of his friends about the best time to raid the restaurant, and made sure that she was on duty when the three masked raiders struck at midnight on 19 December last year.

Olomu, who denied the charge of attempted robbery, even pretended to be have been clubbed on the head by the gang to make the robbery look genuine.

The robbers tied up a cleaner, threatening to throw him in the deep freeze, and then tried to break into the safe. But a second cleaner escaped from the store and flagged down a patrolling police car.

Hakeem and accomplice Colin Cranston were both jailed for seven-and-a-half years for attempted robbery, while Gary Walker received six-and-a-half years for conspiracy to steal and possession of a prohibited weapon.
