Marston's launches online payroll system for licensees and tenants
Marston's, the brewer and pub operator, has launched an online payroll system for its licensees and tenants allowing them to have their employees' payroll details processed at the company's head office.
The service, which has been developed to provide licensees with more effective way to handle their accounts, sees licensees register their employees' payroll details on the company intranet. They are then processed by the Marston's payroll office which generates electronic payslips for each member of staff.
Costing licensees £1 per pay slip, the service also allows them to pay their staff electronically via BACs. All payment histories will be archived on the system.
Marston's marketing and development director Andy Cooney said: "Our research suggests that the system will provide a big saving for our licensees and the fact that it's so easy to register means that the process will be much less time consuming."
Marston's recently said trading for the first months of the year has been satisfactory but warned that the impact of the smoking ban in England and Wales remained uncertain.
Managed pub division Marston's Inns & Taverns saw their sales increase by 7 % during the 24 weeks ending 17 March, with food sales increasing by 13.9%, while tenanted and leased business Marston's Pub Company showed "continued growth in average profit per pub compared to last year".
