McGettigan's pub group to open first UK site and plans further expansion

Irish pub group McGettigan's is to open its first UK venue this summer after acquiring the leasehold on London's 1 Fulham Broadway site.

The group, which has 11 sites in Ireland, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, New York and Singapore, is set to refurbish the three-storey, 7,994 sq ft property, which also includes a split-level bar, trade kitchen, and owners' accommodation.

The move forms part of the chain's wider expansion plans, as the group is currently looking at opportunities across the UK, focusing on regional cities including Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham.

The Fulham Broadway property was acquired by McGettigan's as advised by Savills, from Glendola Leisure Group trading as Brogan's, the traditional Irish bar.

Kevin Marsh, head of licensed leisure at Savills, commented: "McGettigan's is a very popular pub chain that has traded successfully in numerous locations across the world. This is an excellent site in London for its first UK location, close to a number of bars and restaurants, and also the Chelsea Football ground at Stamford Bridge."

The group was first founded in Dublin's Queen Street in the 1960s by Jim McGettigan. It is also set to open new locations in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and further across the USA in the next year.
