Mitch Tonks to open Rockfish in Brixham
Chef Mitch Tonks is to open a new branch of his Rockfish restaurant and takeaway business, this time at Brixham fishing port in Devon.
The new site, which sits right above the market, will open in April and cater to 130 covers.
The restaurant will have an indoor and outdoor eating area on the first floor, along with a private dining room.
The menu will include dishes such as seabass roasted in salt and roasted turbot, all using the catch from the morning's market.
Downstairs is the take-away, serving fried fish as well as fish breakfasts from 7-11am, including scallop and back bacon rolls and smoked haddock.
There will also be an area used to prepare fresh Brixham fish for Tonks' other restaurants in Dartmouth, Plymouth and Torquay. It will be open so that guests and visitors can see the fish being prepared and packed.
Tonks said: "We are hoping to make the restaurant a great addition to our town which is already famous for its fish and fish restaurants as well as the bustling port.
"We want to create a destination that will attract seafood lovers from all over the world that will ultimately enjoy and spend time and money in our town & community. I have a real belief that the fish is the best in the world so to be able to share that is just brilliant. We are looking forward to building a great team who will love the site as much as we do."
In addition to his Rockfish restaurants, Tonks also owns his flagship Seahorse eaterie in Dartmouth, as well as the Spiny Lobster in Bristol (previously a Rockfish Grill).
