New Bavarian Beerhouse set to open as franchise in Bristol

German restaurant chain the Bavarian Beerhouse is set to open a new site in the centre of Bristol on 29 August, which will be the first franchise for the business.

Serving its usual hearty menu and selection of German lagers, with staff in traditional costume, the new venue will be the third Bavarian Beerhouse and the first to open outside London.

Opened in 2005 by Germans Rene and Sabine von Reth in London's Old Street, the first site came after Rene moved to the capital and couldn't find somewhere to eat a pork shank with a German beer. The second restaurant followed in Tower Hill five years later.

Featuring traditional Bavarian fare, including sausages, schnitzels, cheeses and freshly-baked pretzels, the menu also offers a wide choice of Bavarian and German beers, which guests can try with or without food.

Speaking of the new Bristol site, Sabine von Reth said: "Our location on Queen Charlotte Street in BS1 couldn't be better; we're close to the city centre, the docks, offices and hotels, and we're looking forward to welcoming both locals and tourists through our doors."

She added: "For a private business, in rough economy times, we are very proud to have achieved growth without investors. We are lucky that we have such a great team working with us."
