New chairman for City Centre Restaurants

Former Oriental Restaurant Group chairman Alan Jackson has been appointed as new executive chairman of City Centre Restaurants.

Jackson was with Whitbread for 18 years, eventually managing director of its restaurant division where he was responsible for the creation and development of Beefeater, Travel Inns and TGI Friday.

In 1991 he started Inn Business Group which was bought by Punch in 1999. He chaired Oriental Restaurant Group until its sale to Noble House last year.

City Centre's non-executive chairman Henry King is retiring at the end of July after being with the company since 1986.

The company announces its preliminary results on March 28.
