New cocktail bar from former London Cocktail Club bar staff

A new bar from former bar staff at the London Cocktail Club is to open in London's Great Marlborough Street near Oxford Circus, this mid-January.

The Cocktail Trading Company (CTC) Development Bar & Table has been created by bartenders and co-owners of the CTC, Andy Mil, Elliot Ball, and Olly Brading. Located below an all-day brasserie, it will serve original cocktails aiming to be fun and "pioneering", using unusual flavours and techniques.

The menu will also feature a selection of "faux cocktails", or mocktail non-alcoholic drinks, using fresh ingredients, in a bid to make the non-alcoholic choice as central as the alcoholic versions.

The 50-capacity is also designed to host tastings, masterclasses, and cocktail events, and will feature interiors using natural materials such as carved wood, copper, cast iron and marble, plus green and oxblood-coloured tiles reminiscent of the London Underground's classic style.

It will show work from local artists on display, and the music is expected to include 70s and 80s funk, plus "the occasional touch of cheese".

Mil and Brading previously worked together during their bartending career, having worked at bars including the London Cocktail Club and Steam & Rye.

In March, the three-strong team (along with Ball) set up the Cocktail Trading Co, with the goal of founding more bars, and to create a cooperative structure that gives 25% of its profits to the teams at each site.
