New nightclub Shimmy set to open on site of now-closed West London club cherryjam
A new nightclub is set to open on the site of defunct bar and club cherryjam, on West London's Porchester Road, it has been announced.
Having helped launch the LoveBrunch and E.T.A parties, Heathcote and Carr have purposefully aimed to "create an outlet for all the sounds and party scenes they love" and a "much-needed new late-night dancefloor".
Exposed brickwork will contrast with tiling and wooden panels, while optical illusion décor, mirrors, amber light filters and candles will create a shabby-chic effect. Vintage porn and "cheeky peep holes" in the toilets will aim to create character, and the sense of "idiosyncratic, mischievous fun" that the directors are aiming for.
Before it closed, cherryjam had evolved from a small club to a lounge bar with booths and tables. Despite having often suffered complaints over noise levels and nuisance to the local residential area, it was open until 2am, offering cocktails and casual food alongside distinctive music, including live DJs playing RnB, electro, house and funk.
